ROSE HALL, Jamaica, Dec. 1, 2011 - With a full field of professionals and amateurs, the 48th staging of the LIME Jamaica Open Golf Tournament is underway at the Half Moon Golf Course located in Rose Hall, Jamaica.
Defending champion Ron Schroeder returns, as does Johnny Bloomfield who finished second in last year’s competition. But these top professionals should have strong competition from Olin Browne and Russell Cochran, the reigning senior US open and British open champions respectively, who join the tournament for the first time.
The international field of 74 professional golfers from the US, Canada, Europe, South America, Asia and the Caribbean are vying for the U$16,000 top prize from a U$85,000 prize fund in the 54-hole tournament being played over Dec. 1 – 4. Additionally, 34 low-handicap amateurs from the US, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean will also be competing for a wide range of trophies and prizes in the Open.
This is the seventh time and fourth consecutive year that the Jamaica Golf Association’s premier event is being staged at Half Moon’s par-72, 7,119-yard golf course.
